“Machhan”: Watch tower
One can find this old brick tower like structure while going through the forest near the village ‘Machhan’. Watch Tower is the English word for the Bengali word ‘Machhan’.
People of the local area believe that the watch tower was constructed some 200 hundred years back by ‘Devi Choudhurani’. Similar type of structure can be found at Durgapur city (40km from this place). One tunnel is still their under this tower and that is connected with one at Durgapur.
